Philodendron Red Emerald 60-80cm
The Philodendron is a striking houseplant and this is mainly due to the beautiful, sturdy leaves. The Philodendron Red Emerald is a relatively easy plant that does not mind anything less light.
Although the Philodendron is a tropical plant, it does very well in the living room.
Height: 2.5 to 4 metres tall
Soil: Red Emerald Marbled Philodendrons enjoy well drained but moist, rich organic mix. Remember try to stay away from wet, mucky or dry, sandy soils.
Temperature: An Imperial Red Philodendron grows well in warm temperatures between 70°-85°F ( 21.1°-29.4°C)
Fertilizer: Fertilize monthly when the plant is actively growing with a balanced food diluted to ½ the recommended strength. If the plant is not producing new leaves, it doesn’t need any plant food.
Light: A Philodendron Imperial Red can survive in low light, but grows faster and looks better in medium light.
Water: Always allow the top 50% of the soil to dry out before watering. Water less, allowing the soil to dry out a bit more, during the winter months.
Propogation: Growers use tissue cultures to successfully propagate this hybrid. You can use off- shoots or air layering to try to propagate your plant.
